Question first
Each educational article starts with a reader question about the structure of information. Our standards require a distinction between what a source supports, what an illustrative example demonstrates, and what cannot be concluded without clinical context.
Editors use American English, define abbreviations at first use, and prefer short sentences. A1C is written consistently. The unit mg/dL appears only where it belongs to the source or example and is never presented as a universal personal target.
Evidence and claim review
Our standards call for medical and measurement statements to be supported by relevant official guidance, regulatory documents, method information, or primary research. Research-literacy articles should distinguish a study's design and population from claims made about it. Sources should link to the specific page or document used.
A claim review looks for both direct wording and reasonable implications. Editors remove promises of outcomes, universal interpretations, treatment instructions, invented expertise, and visuals that could falsely suggest a clinician or institution endorses the publication.
Examples and visual checks
All reports and datasets are created for teaching and labeled. Charts include axes, units, legends where needed, a visible data table, and a prose summary. Editors check that the numbers shown in a table match the display and that changing scale or time window does not silently change the lesson.
Publication checks cover headings, internal links, metadata, structured data, and accessibility features. These checks do not establish clinical review or certify accessibility conformance. The Accessibility page describes the features provided and how to report a barrier.
Dates and updates
Every article and guide displays its publication and latest-update dates. Substantive changes are reflected in the updated date and, when they affect meaning, in a correction note. Routine typography or link maintenance that does not alter meaning may be made without a correction notice.
Product overviews and disclosures
Commercial pages must be clearly identified when their promotional nature would otherwise be unclear. A financial relationship must be disclosed near the relevant recommendation or link. Product descriptions supplied by a seller are not independent clinical evidence, and ingredient research does not automatically establish results for a finished product.
We do not present a product as personally tested unless that testing actually occurred. Claims about efficacy or safety need support appropriate to the product, formulation, dose, and claim; a medical disclaimer cannot replace that support.
